“The similarity I would focus on is one of leadership — people who are passionate about what they do and are doing it under high stake circumstances. It’s a good way of describing Anna Wintour. It’s a good way of describing James Carville. And George Stephanopolous. And Grace Coddington. Though they certainly dress differently.”
- RJ Cutler, on the similarities between his two documentaries, The September Issue and The War Room

More From The September Issue

More has leaked from the Sundance documentary The September Issue. In the film, Anna is shown meeting with Neiman Marcus/ Bergdorf Goodman, and "fundamentally telling Burt Tansky, the CEO, what to put on his shelves." Says the film's director RJ Cutler, "Right there, they're deciding what people will wear."

"I was certainly surprised by Anna's prominence in this industry. It's true that she is really this singular figure in this enormous global industry. You can make a movie without Steven Spielberg's blessing and you can publish software without Bill Gates' blessing, but you can't get a dress you designed on a rack without Anna Wintour's blessing. You kind of have to see it to believe it." - R.J. Cutler, director of The September Issue.
